UPDATE:

In December 2022, Following the issues with twitter, I (TJ Cizadlo) have decided to ensure a fallback location elsewhere. For now, that’s @TJ_Cizadlo@mastodon.social .

More updates will certainly follow as I get an alternate account set for Arnie. Thank you all for all of the support I’ve received.

What is American Rocket News?

Sometime in early 2018  Rob Davidoff and I (Timothy Cizadlo) were having discussions that lead to me writing the short timeline “Rockwell Flyer: The Story of the X-33 and Beyond” , and his writing of “Kistling a Different Tune: Commercial Space in an Alternate Key

” (still in progress). For the purposes of both stories, we desired to have a space reporter to act as an in-universe narrator. Rather than put words in anyone’s mouth (specifically the estimable Chris Bergin who runs the amazing site NASASpaceFlight.com), we decided to build our own.

Thus, Arnold ‘Arnie’ Holmes was born. He is a lot like Chris, only not as good at his job, and a lot more willing to get the scoop – If you have ever been subscribed to NSF’s L2 (and you really should if you enjoy reading about and discussing spaceflight) you would know that Chris doesn’t run stories he can’t confirm, or has been asked not to run.

Now, why “American Rocket News” (or ARN)? The answer is simple – The name wasn’t taken in the modern era. After much searching the only sources I found for the name dated back to a minor short lived publication in the late 1950s, making it safe to use.

To be 100% clear: ARN is not affiliated with any official or real space new agency, and should be taken with a grain of salt, and the site is mostly used, by myself and Mr. Davidoff, to host files related to space history, and various space related timelines.

Thanks:

I’d like to thank @MattMlodzienski for making the community that brought Rob and I together, and to discoslelge for the awesome logo.

Also, if you want to write, play, or just world-build science fiction with a basis in reality, check out Winchell Chung’s Atomic Rockets. It really is a great site.

If you love old aerospace documents, check out Scott Lowther’s Aerospace Projects Review.

For totally awesome science fiction art, one of the best people I have had the pleasure of interacting with is Alan Baker who was kind enough to make a custom version of his A Ride Home artwork (done for the timeline Right Side Up by Mr. Davidoff and one Polish Eagle) as the banner on the ARN twitter page.
On March 31st, 2021 T.J. Cizadlo, Using the @arniehomes twitter acount asked at question at the SNC Commercialization of Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) press event. The result is show bellow:
