What is American Rocket News?

Sometime in early 2018 Rob Davidoff and I (Timothy Cizadlo) were having discussions that lead to me writing the short timeline “Rockwell Flyer: The Story of the X-33 and Beyond” , and his writing of “Kistling a Different Tune: Commercial Space in an Alternate Key

” (still in progress). For the purposes of both stories, we desired to have a space reporter to act as an in-universe narrator. Rather than put words in anyone’s mouth (specifically the estimable Chris Bergin who runs the amazing site NASASpaceFlight.com), we decided to build our own.

Thus, Arnold ‘Arnie’ Holmes was born. He is a lot like Chris, only not as good at his job, and a lot more willing to get the scoop – If you have ever been subscribed to NSF’s L2 (and you really should if you enjoy reading about and discussing spaceflight) you would know that Chris doesn’t run stories he can’t confirm, or has been asked not to run.

Now, why “American Rocket News” (or ARN)? The answer is simple – The name wasn’t taken in the modern era. After much searching the only sources I found for the name dated back to a minor short lived publication in the late 1950s, making it safe to use.

To be 100% clear: ARN is not affiliated with any official or real space new agency, and should be taken with a grain of salt, and the site is mostly used, by myself and Mr. Davidoff, to host files related to space history, and various space related timelines.
